Edmonton — The Edmonton Oilers announced Wednesday that it has acquired a major player in the energy business to boost its presence in the North American energy market.
Edmonton-based Energy Group is a leading player in global energy and sustainability, specializing in the development of energy-efficient technologies and services.
Energy Group’s clients include many of the world’s leading energy companies, including Shell, BP, Shell’s parent company, Total, Statoil, ExxonMobil, Total’s subsidiary, and EDF, among others.
The company has offices in London, New York, Calgary and Edmonton.
Energy Group has a strong track record in the global energy industry, according to the company.
Last year, it was named one of the top 10 global energy companies by Forbes magazine.
The Oilers are one of Canada’s biggest markets for energy.
They currently have a 25 per cent stake in a large oil sands project in northern Alberta.
The company has also a long-term agreement to develop the Eagle Ford shale oil sands in Alberta.
