Engadgadget – The Aspire company announced today that it has raised $200m in a Series A round led by Greylock Partners, led by former CFO of Zynga, Mark Siegel.
Siegel joined Aspire in July after nearly two years as its CEO.
He previously served as chief executive of Zynerges Interactive, the maker of Zyfish, and as chief financial officer of Zycom, the creator of Minecraft.
In that capacity, he led Zyngas efforts to build a global community of users and developers to build their own virtual worlds.
“I am thrilled to join Aspire as CEO,” Siegel said.
“Aspire’s focus on mobile gaming has been an integral part of our strategy for many years, and our partnership with Greylocks will provide us with the opportunity to grow and accelerate that strategy.
Aspire will continue to develop its own games in the coming months, and it will also be developing its own gaming platform and services. “
I look forward to working with Aspire CEO and CFO, Mark, as they will be my team for many more years to come.”
Aspire will continue to develop its own games in the coming months, and it will also be developing its own gaming platform and services.
